A Practice Report On The Translation Of Journal Articles For Global Power Highlights

The power industry is one of the key economic development strategies for all countries and places.With the rapid development of the world economy and that of science and technology,the global power industry is undergoing some significant transformations.Traditional energy supplies have been impacted by the fast development of renewable energy and the rise of intelligent technologies.The original texts of this practice report are collected from major English energy websites and magazines,and the translations are published in the professional journal,Global Power Highlights.The translator follows the principles of faithfulness and readability in the process of translating the texts for the journal.This translation practice report is divided into five parts.The first part describes the background and the meaning of the practice project;the second part is the description of the pre-translation process,including analyses of the features of original texts and similar texts and the principles to be followed while translating;the third part is the description of translation process,including pre-translation,while-translation and post-translation;the fourth part is the case analysis,in which the author mainly analyzes,from the aspects of vocabulary,subtitle and sentence,the important and difficult points in the translation,and then proposes some specific translation strategies,such as amplification,conversion,division,etc.In the conclusion section,the author summarizes the translation practice.Through this translation practice,the translator has obtained some information of power highlights and grasped the features of journal articles on power.Some translation strategies are proposed for the translation of this type of articles and the translator’s skills are improved.Above all,the author hopes to provide some references for translators of similar texts.
