It is clearly stated in the high school English curriculum standards that language skills are an essential part when it comes to the ability to use languages.Reading comprehension is an important input skill, playing a vital role in English learning, and so is the teaching of reading. However,in the actual EFL reading classes, the central position of students has not been highlighted effectively. While the Guided-Learning Plan is a new kind of teaching mode, which goes deep into exploring the issue on the feasibility of guided learning plans in EFL reading classes. This method lets students really become the hosts of the study, making them find and solve problems through self-study and team cooperation, thus improving their willingness to participate in class activities. It may fully improve the efficiency of senior high classroom-teaching of English reading materials. Therefore,in this article I will combine the new curriculum standard with the reality of the application of the Guided-learning Plans in the classroom teaching in our high school. The present study takes 86 students in senior two from the target High School as the subjects, setting up the experimental class and the control class. The experimental class uses the guided-learning plans in EFL reading classes and the control class uses the traditional teaching method. This experiment lasts for one year, and in the meanwhile,I have conducted the questionnaire survey and tests among the students from these two classes, aiming to find the answer to the following three questions:(1)Can the guided-learning plans in EFL reading classes improve students' reading ability and grades?(2)Can the guided-learning plans in EFL reading classes arouse students' intrinsic interest?(3)Can the guided-learning plans in EFL reading classes develop a good reading habit? After the tests, the independent sample T test and the compared sample T test are conducted on the scores of the two classes with SPSS,and the test scores of the two classes are compared and analyzed, demonstrating that an improved application of the guided-learning plan can arouse students' interest in learning English, cultivate their good reading habits and achieve high grades in reading comprehension as well. Therefore,it is a new approach to increasing the efficiency of English teaching.
