English reading is always the focus and difficult point in English learning.English teachers should pay more attention on the development of students' reading efficiency.Nowadays,many teachers still hold on to the traditional teaching methods.They would like to explain the new words in the reading material first.Then they translate the text for students to understand the meaning.At last,they would focus on the grammar in key sentences,which will help students solve problems in various tests.Therefore,students have formed an inefficient reading habit that they always try to understand every word in the reading material and analyze the grammatical structure of complex sentences.It is hard for them to understand the overall structure and the center of the article.Efficient reading methods are rarely used,either.In order to improve students' reading ability and efficiency,in this thesis the author tries to explore the reading teaching model of "Guided Learning Plans",in which teachers design the "Guided Learning Plans" in advance according to the real situations of learning materials and give them out to the students.Then students apply them into the whole process of reading learning.During the research,the author dig deeply into the reading material in textbook and make thorough investigation among students.Then design efficient guided learning plans to help students grasp the reading passage in each unit.The author also employed various ways of researching,such as pretest and post-test,questionnaire survey,interview etc.After the research,the author analyze the result of the experiment with the data of tests and investigation.The result shows that the employment of guided learning plans in reading teaching can firstly arouse students' interests in reading learning.Secondly,it can cultivate their good habits on reading learning.Thirdly,it can help students develop reading skills and improve reading ability.During the research,the author also explore the principles and contents of designing the plans as well as the instruction on applying the plans.
