The English Curriculum Standard for Senior High School(2017 Edition)requires that students’ reading ability and reading habits should be developed through reading teaching.This requirement makes all the senior high schools’ English teachers face a new challenge : In English reading teaching,how to cultivate students reading habits and improve students’ reading ability.In the face of this challenge,educators have carried out various forms of research.Guided learning plan is favored by the front-line teachers because of its emphasis on the cultivation of students’ ability and quality.And it is widely used in English Reading Teaching.Based on the exiting results,the study takes 42 students from 1903 of No.1 senior high school in Zhuzhou County,Hunan Province as the research object.The paper tries to discuss the effect of guided learning plan in senior high school’s English reading teaching through the methods of test,questionnaire and interview.This study will focus on the following questions: 1.What is the effect of guided learning plan on students’ reading habits? 2.What is the effect of guided learning plan on students’ reading attitude? 3.What is the effect of guided learning plan on students’ reading ability? The study shows the specific application mode of guided learning plan.According to this mode,the study designs the teaching from three aspects: pre class,in class and post class,and carries out the teaching practice for 18 weeks.In pre class,on the one hand,the teacher should set the learning objectives for students according to their learning level and characteristics,list the key and difficult points of this reading class as well as the key vocabulary,and provide the background knowledge and learning method.On the other hand,students should preview the text and finish the pre guided learning plan according to the requirement of teachers.In class,the teacher should test students’ preview effect by asking questions,guide students to solve problems through cooperative learning,and give corresponding guidance in the process of students’ cooperative learning.In post class,the teacher should guide the students to do the exercises according to their own learning level,and make students complete the self-evaluation form.After one semester of application,combined with the data analysis of tests,questionnaires and interviews,this study draws the following conclusions: the application of guided learning plan in senior high school can effectively improve students’ reading performance and improvestudents’ reading ability.In addition,it can also change students’ reading attitude and cultivate students’ reading habits.
