An Interpreting Practice Report Of "The Proud Son Of Heaven" Exhibition Hall In Inner Mongolia Museum

In recent years,museum tourism has become a new form of tourism at home and abroad,attracting more and more foreign tourists to come to China and appreciate the charm of traditional culture.This practice report is based on a Chinese-English escort interpretation practice in “The Proud Son of Heaven” exhibition hall in Inner Mongolia Museum.This task was entrusted by Baoxing Technology Co.,Ltd.to serve as an interpreter for its foreign client to visit Inner Mongolia Museum on September 26,2019.The interpreter recorded this practice which lasted about 1 hour and 49 minutes and transcribed it into a text,and wrote this interpretation practice report based on this corpus.This report focuses on the difficulties in the interpreting process and interpretation techniques used in the interpreting process.The report selects some typical cases and mainly analyzes the cultural default problems caused by the differences in historical culture and social customs in different countries and regions,as well as the problems of misinterpretation and omission caused by redundant and dense long-sentence information in the tour guide presentation during the interpreting process.In terms of these difficulties in the interpreting process,this report analyzes the interpretation techniques used in dealing with cultural default and long sentences,such as amplification,explanation,division and restructuring.Through the description of the task and case analysis,some conclusions can be drawn as follows: 1.Adequate pre-task preparation enables interpreters to have a deeper understanding of the background knowledge involved in the source language and target language,thus reducing misinterpretations and pauses in the interpreting process;2.In the task of escort interpreting in the museum,the use of interpretation techniques suchas amplification,explanation,division are more helpful for the target audiences to receive the source language information.Through the analysis of the transcribed text,this report is expected to provide some references and help to more museum interpreters.
