An Escort Interpreting Practice Report Based On A Visit To Lanzhou New Area And Lanzhou City Planning Exhibition Hall

China provides a better economic environment and favorable conditions for foreign enterprises.In this context,when foreign companies come to start their businesses,language barrier appears.Escort interpretation,as one kind of interpretation,has its own features and requirements,which asks the interpreters to do a two-way interpretation from English to Chinese and vice-versa.The author took her own experience as an escort interpreter in Hongdeshun Pet Workshop Ltd.Company,detailed some features of interpretation and analyzed the problems occurred in the process of interpretation.This report consists of five parts.The first part is an introduction to the background,purpose and significance of the task.The second part describes the content of task,the information on the entrusting party and the requirements of the entrusting party.The third part is interpreting process with three phases which are before interpreting,while interpreting and after interpreting.Before interpreting,the author did a preparation work including the professional terms,background knowledge preparation and choosing strategies with the support of Gile’s Effort Model.The fourth part is case analysis,showing the problems of the interpretation process and the strategy which to deal with the situation.In the last part,the author made conclusion of this practice.After analyzing this interpretation activity,the author has come to the following conclusions:(1)Constantly enrich and improve knowledge schema.(2)Improve the sensitivity of English with different accents.(3)Improve intercultural communication skills.(4)Reinforce the theoretical learning.
