This report is based on the analysis of the transcript of an American STEAM course training where I was responsible for liaison interpreting.On July 8,2019,three American STEAM course teachers Deborah Ezell,Kim Wells and Amy Dherit were invited to the Affiliated School of Hebei Baoding Normal and provided a four-day STEAM course training for the school’s primary and secondary teachers.I was recommended by my supervisor and entrusted by the Affiliated School of Hebei Baoding Normal to do the liaison interpreting for Deborah Ezell.Under the guidance of the interpretive theory,I successfully completed this practice by using relevant interpreting skills.This report is divided into four chapters.Chapter 1 introduces the background,requirements and significance of the task.Chapter 2 describes in detail the stages of this interpreting task,including pre-interpreting preparations,interpreting process and post-interpreting evaluation.Chapter 3 is about case analysis.Through careful analysis of the interpreting strategies used in this task and the shortcomings,I selected 15 representative cases for specific discussion.I analyzed the highlights of the cases,and reflected on the cases of poor interpreting to get more appropriate versions.Chapter 4 is the conclusion part.I summarized this task from two aspects: interpreting competence and psychological quality.I hope this report can provide references for interpreters who are engaged or interested in liaison interpreting.
