| Through the ages,China has attached great importance to excellent culture exchanges with foreign countries.Since the development of the new era,convenient transportation and developed network have been made domestic universities cooperate closely with foreign universities.The universities communicate with each other through sending teachers to foreign countries,receiving foreign teachers,and learning school philosophy and education methods from each other.Tianjin University of Technology invited two foreign teachers to visit,and Professor Zhang Zhongming was responsible for the reception.The author acted as an interpreter for the conversation between Professor Zhang Zhongming,Allen Lim and Shea Moore in December 2019.The exchanges between three scholars are related to education,history,eating habits,etc.Although there are few professional terms involved,a lot of common sense is needed.In addition,only by using appropriate theory for guidance and accurately translating the content can the quality of interpretation be improved and the task of interpretation be successfully completed.Under the guidance of the Interpretative Theory of two professors,Seleskovitch and Lederer,the author has analyzed cases through three aspects of Interpretive Theory: understanding,cognition supplement of linguistic knowledge,and deverbalization.The skills of liberal translation,imitation,annotation,addition,combination and omission are combined with the author’s understanding of the three aspects to complete the interpretation task,and the author analyses typical examples encountered in the process of interpretation.The author also summarizes the findings,defects and enlightenment of this practice.The defects includes the interpreter’s understanding will be affected by accents and interpreter will be confused with personal pronouns.In liaison interpreting,comprehension of meaning is the first step,and deverbalization is the key,but the interpreter should not ignore re-expressing.Experience is the best teacher,during the process of interpretation,the author has a more thorough understanding of Interpretive Theory,and flexibly uses the three levels of Interpretive Theory to interpret the speaker’s discourse.At the same time,the author should pay more attention to the accents of different countries and regions,and seize the characteristics of accents;seek more practical opportunities to relieve tension;learn more about the culture of different countries and reduce misinterpretation and omissions.The author hopes that this report can provide some guidance for herself and other interpreters in the interpretation practice. |
