Expression And Representation In Documentary Creation

The popularization of modern network technology and the multifunctional development of equipment have gradually lowered the threshold of film shooting and encouraged more people to participate in the shooting.However,there is still a large gap in independent films in China,especially documentaries focusing on ordinary people.Pieces of his life is an exploration in this blank field.This graduation work is a documentary film featuring a young post-90 s Tibetan cadre as the main character.The director intends to preserve the simple humanity by means of video.The content is composed of the fragmented life fragments of the subject,and it hopes to evoke the audience's emotions and broader life imagination through the recording of his personal life and emotions.This thesis combines the creative experience of the documentary with Pieces of his life as the research object and the whole process of film production,and discusses the meaning and application of "expression" and "representation" in documentary creation.The thesis is divided into five chapters.Through literature research,experience summary,case studies and other research methods,the film is explored and analyzed from an academic perspective and practice.First,it explains the film's creative background,content,and value.The arguments in this chapter are decomposed in detail,and each part of the film is analyzed in depth.Throughout the entire analysis process,this thesis is based on historical and social psychology,based on the development of expressive aesthetics and representational aesthetics in the history of film,and combines the classic cases of other documentaries and specific practical experiences to generate my own thinking to "expression" and "representation" of the documentary are explained and analyzed in detail.At the same time,the new trends of modern documentary are observed through the connection.Finally,this thesis summarizes the real experience and reflections obtained in practice.
