The Documentary "The Roots Of The Old City" Is A Populist Theme And Analysis Of Expression Techniques

My graduate documentary Roots of the Old Town takes Xi’an as the target,and tries to express the plebification through the way of film and television art and indicate the civilian spirit and the cultural heritage in Xi’an.The thesis,on the combination of the graduation work documentary Roots of the Old Town,discusses the main content of the documentary and shooting ideas.The documentary is in chronological order and uses time-space Image to indicate the cultural heritage in Xi’an.Taking the Bell Tower and Drum Tower’s “morning bell and twilight drum" as the time image,the documentary used the lens to show the changes of Xi’an within one day.Taking the ancient city walls and gates as spatial images,the documentary wants to express the integration of the ancient and the modern.It is also the remains of Xi’an city.It is the place where the people of Xi’an live.The documentary selects three representatives of Xi’an,that is,the Breeze Chorus,the barber under the root of the city walls,the owner of Taoxun Antique Store,showing the daily life of Xi’an civilians and the love of Xi’an people’s cultural life.That will help to highlight the theme of the spirit of the civilian.The paper,by combining the shooting experience of the documentary,explores the film and television art performance techniques in Roots of the Old Town.In the treatment of scenery shot,the documentary shows the beautiful scenery of Xi’an with panoramic or vision.By analyzing the relationship between sound and painting,separation of sound and painting,and synchronization of sound and painting,this paper discusses the treatment of picture editing and sound performance in Roots of the Old Town.It also discusses the commentaries of Roots of the Old Town from the perspectives of explanatory and narrative commentaries.
