A Report On The C-E Translation Of China Manufacturing (Excerpts) Under The Guidance Of Functional Equivalence Theory

The China Manufacturing is a work of economy,which provides management ideas,methods and keys for the transformation of Chinese manufacturing enterprises combining the development trend of industrialization and information age.It is of great significance to the improvement of soft power of China's manufacturing.Meanwhile,China Manufacturing enables other countries to better understand the current situation of China's economic development.Therefore,the translator has translated the important chapters and compiled a translation report on the basis of first two chapters of the book.In this report,the translator first introduces the background and significance of the source text as well as the translation process,summarizes the features of the original text,and analyzes the practicability of Nida's functional equivalence theory.Then based on the Nida's functional equivalence theory,this report analyzes the English translations of some typical examples in China Manufacturing from the perspective of lexical equivalence,syntactic equivalence,discoursal equivalence and stylistic equivalence,and summarizes some common translation techniques.In lexical level,transliteration and paraphrase are used to achieve equivalence;in syntactic level,voice conversion and combination are used to achieve equivalence in sentence structure and voice;in discoursal level,techniques of substitution,conjunction and so on are used to achieve context coherence;in stylistic level,annotation and word by word translation are used to achieve stylistic equivalence.In the translation process,the translator tries to achieve a qualified translation work,and make foreign target readers understand and accept the translated text.In conclusion,functional equivalence theory provides theoretical guidance in dealing with lexical equivalence,syntactic equivalence,discoursal equivalence and stylistic equivalence.Meanwhile,the summarized translation techniques can be a guidance for the translation of economic texts.
