A Report On Translation Of The Excerpts From Computers Helping People With Special Needs

With the development of the times and the advancement of science and technology,it is more common that computer technology helps people with special needs to live,work,and learn.At present,there are still some problems in the development of China's ICT in special education.For example,some schools lack teaching resources,and the government's relevant policies are not perfect.Therefore,it is necessary to learn advanced foreign technology to promote the development of China's ICT in special education.The original text selected for this translation practice report was compiled from the 2018 “International Conference on Computers Helping People with Special Needs(ICCHP)” paper.The collected papers introduce many of the latest technologies for visual impairment,hearing disorder,speech impairment,etc.The original text belongs to scientific text,and its characteristics are mainly manifested in three aspects:the professionalism of terminology;the normativity of graphics,tables and annotations;the objectivity of passive sentences.Under the guidance of Newmark's semantic translation theory and communicative translation theory,this translation practice report conducts detailed case analysis of the translation of vocabulary,unit symbols,diagrams and sentences in scientific English.Under the guidance of semantic translation theory,the translator uses literal translation to standardize the translation of technical words,implements zero translation of unit symbols,uses literal translation to translate graphic texts.The translation pays more attention to the form of the original text and the original author's ideas,so as to accurately convey the content that the original author wants to express.Under the guidance of communicative translation theory,the translator selects suitable semi-technical word translations,uses conversion to translate non-technical words,translates long sentences by flexible splitting translation,and translates passive English sentences into active or passive Chinese sentences.It can make the translation no longer faithfully copy the text of the original text and makemore room for adjustment,so that the translation is easier to be accepted by the target language readers.The author hopes to help special education teachers learn the world's advanced computer technology by translating foreign texts about using computer technology to help people with special needs,and thus help people with special needs receive better education.The application of new technologies in special education schools and other schools with special education classes is conducive to the development of China's ICT in special education,thereby promoting the development of special education in China.
