A Report On The C-E Translation Of Thesis In Computer Science And Technology

With the gap between China and other countries in the field of Internet and academy narrowing down,translations concerning computer theses mark their roles as more important ones.The thesis translation of computer major with the computer network and computer operating system as its theme belongs to the category of scientific and technological translation,which has the characteristics of objective description,strict language,standard writing and true information.This report is a study of Chinese-English translation practice based on the two computer professional papers of Research on Topology Control Algorithm in Heterogeneous Wireless Sensor Networks Based on the Game Theory and Research and Design on Communication Mechanism of Embedded Microkernel Operating System Based on Multi-core Processor.The writer applies the two translation strategies,proposed by Vinay and Darbelnet,to the translation practice of this translation project,so as to explore the guiding role of the two translation strategies and to further find out the optimal translation methods to accurately convey the information of raw materials.These two translation strategies involve direct translation and oblique translation,of which the direct translation includes borrowing,calque,literal translation,and the oblique translation contains conversion,modulation,equivalence,adaptation.In the Chinese-English translation practice of this project,literal translation plays a leading role,which is determined by the objective and rigorous characteristics of scientific andtechnological translation.Therefore,the report analyzes the translation ranging from words,phrases and sentences to the textual level under the guidance of the Vinay and Darbelnet translation model(translation theory).According to the translation practice concerning this project,mastering translation theory and being familiar with its application methods are the key factors to effectively direct the translation practice.Secondly,strongly professional computer translation requires that translators should understand the background information of profession as well as relevant professional terms and should be good at converting the bilingual conversion of Chinese-English.Besides,the competence of adopting the corresponding computer translation auxiliary means and translation skills plays an indispensable part in assisting the project translation practice.Again,the translations about computer majors share the same features with other materials.In other words,the translation techniques employed in the Chinese-English practice translation of this translation project can provide translation guidance for the Chinese-English translation of other materials.Finally,the writer expects that the translation practice is conducive to the study and the research of relevant scholars and students.
