| In the era of economic globalization and informationalization,computer science and related fields have developed rapidly,and translation technology has been widely used in the language service industry.The Rutledge Encyclopedia of Translation Technology published in 2015 by Rutledge Company,is a pioneering work on translation technology,from which Chapters 5,6 and 7,selected as the translation practice text,mainly introduce the definition,history,research,application of machine translation and example-based machine translation.By translating the book,the translator not only has a more comprehensive understanding of machine translation and has improved her translation ability,but also hopes to provide specific guidance on the teaching,practice and research of domestic translation technology and promote the development of translation technology and interdisciplinary research in China.In the process of this translation task,Peter Newmark’s communicative translation theory is adopted to guide the translation process and reproduce the translated text in the target language which has the same effect as the original text in the source language.The translation task report has five parts.Part 1 introduces the reasons for and the significances of selecting the source text for this translation task,and language features of the source text.Part 2 briefs the process of this translation task.Part 3 generalizes the main concepts of the communicative translation theory.Part 4 analyzes the selected translation examples at the lexical and syntactic level to solve difficulties during the translation by using some methods such as transliteration,conversion,division,inversion,recasting,etc.Under the guidance of communicative translation theory,so that the more readable target text is obtained to conform to the Chinese expression habits,which achieves the communicative purpose of the translation.Part 5 summarizes some problems and deficiencies in the task. |
