A Study Of Buddhism In The Shangjing Area Of The Jin Dynasty

The introduction of Buddhism in Shangjing is the result of many factors.Before the founding of the Jin Dynasty,the Nuzhen living here had contact with Buddhism,which was determined by the geographical location of the area,which was the only place to pay tribute to the Liao Dynasty.At the end of the Liao Dynasty and the beginning of the Jin Dynasty,the current situation was turbulent and the war continued.Both the foreign war and the immigration to the inner rule became the way of Buddhism's introduction.The complicated political environment provided the conditions for Buddhism's introduction.In the process of communication with Liao,Northern Song,Gaoli,Uighur and other regimes in the Jin Dynasty,Buddhist culture was the external driving force to promote the introduction of Buddhist culture.The primitive religious beliefs of Nuzhen,Qidan,Bohai and the Han people laid a theoretical foundation for the introduction of Buddhism and the understanding of Buddhist doctrines,so that Buddhist culture could be widely spread in the future.Monks are the main body of Buddhism.The Buddhist believers in Shangjing area include all walks of life,from royal families and nobles to common people.They have made contributions to the spread of Buddhism,and they are the promoters of the spread and development of Buddhism in Shangjing area.There are Buddhist cultural relics unearthed in the tombs and sites of Shangjing area.Buddhist cultural relics are the witness of the prevalence of Buddhism in this area.In terms of the materials and techniques of unearthed cultural relics,it also fully confirms the diversity of belief groups in this area.The excavation of Buddhist relics makes up for the lack of ancient Buddhist literature in Shangjing area,which has a very important reference value.Buddhism has a close relationship with politics,economy and culture in the process of dissemination and development.The wide spread of Buddhism in Shangjing area established its position in the development of Buddhism in the whole Jin Dynasty.Buddhism in Shangjing area is an important part of the development of Buddhism in the Jin Dynasty.Based on the relevant historical documents and the existing research results,this paper makes a preliminary study on the Buddhism related issues in Shangjing area,in order to show the development status,characteristics and the relationship between the Buddhism and the Jin regime in Shangjing area.
