| With the development of the Internet,the domestic video game industry is growing faster and faster,and many excellent foreign games are also introduced into China.Therefore,the translation of video game related texts has gradually increased,and relevant research is also in the ascendant.Overwatch is a team shooting game developed by Blizzard Entertainment in the United States.Most of the gaming strategies of Overwatch are written by English-speaking people.The author's translation practice is to translate a gaming strategy about Overwatch called ioStux Goats Thesis for Professional Teams and Players into Chinese,which was posted in a topic called ioStux's 70-Page Goats Thesis for Professional Players and Teams by a professional coach ioStux on a website Reddit.The texts involved in this thesis are systematic gaming strategies for massive multiplayer online games.Also,online game strategies which belong to pragmatic texts are one part of software,the main focus of translation turns to "localization".Hence,this kind of texts cannot be translated simply based on one single method,but rather a combination of pragmatic text translation and localization.There are many game terms in this thesis,which should be left intact when the author translates.At the same time,there are many slangs in the game,which are different in Chinese and English context.Therefore,the translator is required to have a deep understanding of the content of the game,use appropriate vocabulary,sentence pattern and expression,correctly convey the original meaning and maintain the language style of the original author.Under the guidance of text typology theory and Skopos theory,this thesis mainly aims to analyze the translation of proper nouns and related special terms involved in practice,and several analyses about some sentences,so as to summarize the methods that can accurately convey the meaning of the original text,thus making it easier for Chinese game players to understand the meaning of it. |
