| Currently,mobile smart terminals have increasingly urgent demand for AI functions.Meanwhile,due to the drive of personal privacy protection and the rapid development of AI processors,end side AI will gradually serve as the future trend of the AI development.The combination of AI and mobile smart terminal is a new experience for users,which will cause farreaching influence on the whole industry.The translation of relevant scientific texts is of great significance to the development of such technology.Therefore,the author chooses four parts in Blue Book of AI Mobile Smart Terminals(2018)released by CAICT in July 2018 on the official website of 199 IT as source text for translation practice.The four parts are key functional areas of the AI mobile smart terminals,evaluation system,problems,challenges as well as AI ecological prospect respectively.Guided by the Skopos Theory put forward by Hans Vermeer,the German linguist,the author expounds how to resolve problems in the translation of science and technology text with the three principles of the Skopos Theory at great length.This report includes five parts.The first part introduces the background and significance of the report.The second part describes the translation task,including content and characteristics of the source text as well as the classification of target readers.The third part outlines the whole translation process,including the preparation of translation theory reference,translation planning,translation tools selection and quality assurance method application.In the fourth part,the author displays some case analyses from the lexical level,syntactic level and textual level respectively based on the Skopos Theory,mainly analyzing the translation of science and technology text in detail.In this part,the author elaborates the translation of technical terms,category nouns,long sentences with multiple predicates and subjectless sentences and adopts several translation methods such as literal translation with annotation,free translation,addition,restructuring,omission and so on.She also analyzes how to realize thematic progression and grammatical cohesion in translation.The last part is the conclusion.In this part,the author summarizes her harvest and shortcomings in the process of translation.The translation practice and report writing enable the author to further learn about the characteristics and particularities of science and technology text as well as knowledge about AI and its combination with smart mobile terminals.In addition,the translation task provides the author more experience on science and technology text translation which is conducive to her future translation.Meanwhile,the author provides the solutions to problems she confronts in the process of translation at lexical,syntactical and textual levels with multiple translation strategies under the guidance of Skopos Theory.As such,the author also improves her translation ability to some extent.However,since the author lacks relevant professional knowledge in such field,there are still defects in the translation.The author hopes that this report may provide some reference for translation researchers on science and technology text. |
