A Practice Report On The Translation Of Asean Science And Technology Organizations Under The Guidance Of Skopos Theory

This paper is a practice report on the translation of science and technology English.Analytical materials are tasks of Research on the ASEAN Science and Technology Organizations.The translation would serve as a reference for the client in the information of the science and technology organizations,deepen the understanding and improve the situation of lacking relevant exchange and cooperation.This report focuses on the Skopos theory coined by Hans-Josef Vermeer.This theory advocates translators to pay close attention to the purposes of translation,target language and culture and translators’ key role in the production of the translation,against the concept of formal equivalence and instructive to the translation practice.The translation of science and technology English is the research object of this paper.This kind of text is mainly used to offer information in the scientific field and promote academic exchanges with attention to the translation effect.The above features correspond to the communicative interaction concept of Skopos theory.Therefore,from the perspective of the Skopos rule,the priority of Skopos theory,this paper proves that the Skopos theory serves as a guide for the translation of science and technology texts with the help of literature analysis,comparative analysis,and case analysis.Besides,this theory has certain applicability to the choice of translation methods on science and technology English.This report can be divided into four parts: The first part outlines the translation tasks including the background information,the details of the task and the significance of the translation.The second part provides a comprehensive introduction to the translation process including translation preparation,details in the translation process and translation review.The third part will focus on the guiding role of Skopos theory in the practice of translation,introduction of science and technology English and specific cases analysis.The fourth part as a reference contains a summary of translation practice.
