5G(the fifth generation mobile networks)is the latest generation of mobile communication technology.This new mobile communication technology will affect the corresponding information industry to a certain extent,such as the mobile e-commerce.Although China’s development of 5G technology is currently in the leading position all over the world,foreign research results on 5G are still worthy of our study and use for reference.Therefore,the English-Chinese translation of texts in this field is of great importance to the domestic development of 5G on mobile e-commerce.The source text is selected from Chapter One to Chapter Four of 5G’s Impact on Mobile E-Commerce,which mainly illustrates the definition of 5G,the positive impact of 5G on mobile e-commerce,the challenges of 5G on mobile e-commerce and how to prepare for the 5G era.The source text has the obvious features of English for science and technology(EST),such as the extensive use of terminology,abbreviations,passive sentences as well as long and difficult sentences.This translation practice report is mainly made up of four chapters.Chapter One is an introduction to the source text,as well as objectives and significance of the translation task.Chapter Two is the process description,which includes pre-translation preparations,translation process and proofreading and revision work after translation.In Chapter Three,the translation practice report introduces Eugene A,Nida’s functional equivalence theory as the theoretical guidance to explore the translation methods and techniques of technical texts at lexical,syntactic and textual level.Finally,the translator summarizes and reflects upon the translation task as well as puts forward the problems that need to be solved further.Through this translation practice,the translator can not only improve the bilingual ability and ability of language analysis,but also deepen the understanding of functional equivalence theory.In the future translation practice,the translator should attach great importance to strengthening the combination of theory and practice and strive to enhance his professional quality.In addition,the translator hopes that this translation practice report can provide a reference for those interested in 5G and mobile e-commerce.
