With the continuous deepening of China’s opening-up and the huge increase of foreign exchanges,as well as the in-depth implementation of the national "Belt and Road" initiative,national "Cultural Self-confidence" and the "Going out" of Chinese culture are becoming increasingly urgent,and the international communication of Chinese culture is becoming one of the most prominent themes in its development.As one of the important birthplaces of Chinese culture,Shaanxi was the starting point of the ancient Silk Road and plays a crucial role in the construction of the Silk Road Economic Belt Initiative.Baoji,as the hometown of Yan Emperor and the birthplace of Zhou and Qin cultures,has a profound historical and cultural background.Based on the history of Guanzhong district of Shaanxi province,Guanzhong Rural Tales writes about Baoji local stone tablets,folk custom and historical stories,which exhibits the particularity of Baoji ancient culture,local production and the civil life,and expresses the author’s admirations and praises for the striving and responsibility of the Baoji people.The purpose of translation of the original text is to let the foreigners understand the local culture of China and help Chinese culture go out.Under the guidance of Skopos theory,it is beneficial to expand the theoretical depth of translation studies of local cultural texts and provide reference for the translation of similar texts.Based on the analysis of the language features of the original text and under the guidance of Skopos theory,the translator has completed the translation practice of Guanzhong Rural Tales.The translator has also summarized and analyzed the specific problems encountered in the translation from the aspects of vocabulary,syntax and text,and finished the translation practice report.The main findings are: Based on the skopos principle,the coherence principle and the faithfulness principle,the translation of local cultural texts can adopt flexible translation techniques.At the lexical level,annotation,note,interpretative translation,literal translation,free translation,deletion and interpretation were adopted for the translation of ancient official posts,Chinese article titles and book titles,ancient date,Chinese four-character expressions,ancient unit of measurement and dialect.At the syntactic level,paraphrasing,free translation,division and the absolute structure were used for the translation of ancient classical Chinese and long sentences.At the textual level,literaltranslation,omission,notes,cutting and literal translation were adopted for the translation of ancient poems,classical Chinese allusions,the detailed description of the meticulous making process of daily necessity and the making and eating methods of a certain snack.This translation practice report consists of five chapters.The first chapter is a general introduction including the background,purpose and significance of this research,introduction to the source text,literature review,and the structure of this report.The second chapter is the process of the translation practice,including the pre-translation preparation,the translation and the post-translation quality control.The third chapter is the study of the source text and the theoretical foundation of the translation practice.The fourth chapter is the case study summarizing the choices of specific translation techniques in the translation practice.The fifth chapter is the conclusion,which sums up the main findings and limitations of this translation practice.
