A Study On Vallabhbhai Patel And Indian Independence Movement(1917-1928)

Vallabhbhai Patel was an important leader of Indian Independence Movement and one of Gandhi’s most devoted disciples.After the founding of India,he served as India Deputy Prime Minister,Home Minister and so on.From 1917 to 1928 was the first period in which Patel became involved in politics and the independence movement.In 1917,under the persuasion of friends,Patel entered Ahmedabad Municipal,and began to get involved in Indian politics.At the same time,Patel was affected by Gandhi and began to participate in the Indian Independence Movement.In 1928,Patel led the Bardoli Satyagraha to victory,winning the title of “Sardar”,and began to move towards India political stage.During that time,Patel worked hard,transforming from a prominent lawyer to a famous independent movement leader.In the independence movement,Patel’s actions were divided into two parts.First,under the influence of Gandhi,Patel participated in and led several Satyagraha,supported Gandhi’s army recruitment and the First Non-cooperative Movement actively.During this period,Patel became a loyal follower of Gandhi,propagating the theory of Satyagraha,and expanding the mass base of the independent movement.At the same time,Patel gained personal popularity and became one of the important leaders of the independence movement.Second,in Ahmedabad Municipal,Patel introduced national politics into Ahmedabad Municipal,trying to prove the administrative ability of Indians and eliminate the prejudice of British colonists.During his experience in municipal work,Patel gained rich political experience and laid a solid foundation of domestic affairs after the founding of India.As a loyal follower of Gandhi,Patel was not blind,but also has his own independent idea.Patel accepted Gandhi,which was based on his understanding of the real situation of India.He believes that Gandhi’s Satyagraha was the best choice for the India Independence Movement.To some extent,Patel regards Gandhi’s Satyagraha as a way to solve the problem.According to the different situations he faced,he could flexibly integrate Satyagraha into a variety of activities to promote the spread of Gandhi’s ideas.In the activities of early independence movement of Patel,his peasant origins,Hindu identity,and realistic philosophical methods all had an important impact on his political career.Under the combined influence of these factors,Patel stood out and became a unique leader of the independent movement.
