The issue of listening comprehension of interpretation has always been one of the focuses of learning and application in the study and practice of interpretation. It is especially necessary to improve listening comprehension and enrich the research in related fields. For student interpreters in particular, listening comprehension obstacles often have a direct impact on their interpreting effect, and even cause mistranslation or under-translation.Taking mock conference of "Joseph Nye's Speech at Oxford Union,2018" English-Chinese interpretation as an example, the author analyses the factors that lead to listening comprehension obstacles.Language factors include the speaking characteristics of the speaker, complex sentence structure and logical connection while the non-linguistic factors include background knowledge and mentality.Correspondingly, coping strategies are proposed from two perspectives. In the case of language-related hurdles, interpreters should have more intonation and different speech styles training, analyse important and secondary information and grasp key logical connections. When it comes to solutions to non-linguistic obstacles, preparation is emphasized, including making positive content prediction, learning about current affairs and social and cultural background of English-speaking countries. To improve mental quality, interpreters need to have more on-the-spot performance in interpreting practice or simulation conference. This thesis is written in the hope of providing some reference for how to enhance listening comprehension ability.
