Known as the "Seventh Art",film is not only an art with industrial characteristics,but also an industry with artistic characteristics.As a complex of art and industry,film has become an important vector to build national image and ideology.As cultural communication between countries along the "Belt and Road" is becoming more and more intensive,building the national image through the International Film Festival along the "Belt and Road" has become an important channel and bridge.This paper mainly analyzed the award-winning Chinese films among the International Film Festival along the "Belt and Road" Initiative especially six competitive feature film festivals.The method of content analysis is used to analyze the national image of China through award-winning Chinese films.Based on the former analysis,the problems of intercultural communication through the award-winning Chinese films and the "Belt and Road" Initiative countries can be summarized.Thus proposals to further expand the overseas dissemination of Chinese films can be raised.Movie ideograms have a relatively simple and intuitive world-wide universality,through which people often objectively understand the history and reality of a country,nation or culture.As a container carrying culture,the film carries on the process of intercultural communication,which enhances the communication between different nationalities and different cultures.At the same time,from the perspective of literature and art,the construction of Chinese national image through films has not yet achieved a comprehensive and objective effect,and there is still a lack of consciously organic film works to build national image.This paper is divided into seven chapters.The introduction in the first chapter mainly includes five aspects:the first part is to introduce the background of the research topic,the second part is to introduce the purpose and significance of the topic,the third part is to sort out the current research status of this topic at home and abroad,covering the development history of Chinese films,the footprints of Chinese films among International Film Festivals,the international dissemination of the film and television work in the globalized environment,the fourth part is to explain the research methods and path and lastly to illustrate main innovative points and shortcomings of the research.The second chapter mainly clarifies the process of the film's construction of the national image,so as to establish the theoretical basis of the full text.This chapter first defines the concept of the national image and analyzes the construction of the national image system.Secondly,clarify the relationship between the film and the national image,and once again clarify the relationship between the international film festival and the national image,the differences and connection between films and international film festivals.The third chapter focuses on the national images constructed by the award-winning Chinese films,explains the selection of research intervals and texts,and analyzes the statistics and characteristics of the award-winning Chinese films.The fourth,fifth and sixth chapters respectively analyze the national images constructed by the award-winning Chinese films from the 1950s and 1960s,the 1970s to the end of the 20th century and the 21st century.The fourth chapter is divided into two parts:"Artistic Imagination Across Time and Space" and "Double Imagination of Red China".The fifth chapter is divided into two parts:"narration of the other:gender relations from the perspective of patriarchy" and"comparative perspective:cities and villages".The sixth chapter is divided into two parts:"Realistic China and human morality" and "Cultural conscious positive response".The last chapter is the conclusion part of this paper.It is mainly based on the above analysis.It summarizes the current problems and countermeasures for the construction of China's national images.It considers how to improve the overseas dissemination ability of Chinese films through cultural positioning,international perspective,and Chinese characteristics measures to shape a better national image.The epilogue will summarize,comb and overview the whole research.The appendix will list the award-winning Chinese films through six competitive feature film festivals along the the belt and road initiative—Karlovy Vary International Film Festival,Moscow International Film Festival,Warsaw Film Festival,Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival,International Film Festival of India,Cairo International Film Festival.
