Film industry as an important part of Chinese cultural power bears the tasks of spreading politic,economy,culture and being a driving role in the development of comprehensive abilities. It is more vivid and impressed through the film to spread features, mainstream values, living conditions of China than print,oral medium. So in the process of globalization, it is great significance for the films to stand on the international stage. At present, the ways of Chinese films’ oversea communication are limited. there are usually three channels. The first one, attending the International Film Festival. The Second one,attending the movie Tours or international culture exchange activities. The third one, cooperating with foreigners, getting the resources of oversea publishing channels, establishing overseas distribution systems. This paper only makes a study of the first kind of channel. For solving the key issues, it focuses on the three biggest International Film Festival(Cannes International Film Festival, Berlin International Film Festival, Venice International Film Festival),and only the Chinese art film. It will adopt three mainly methods to research: the content analysis, the text analysis and the comparative analysis. The goals of this paper are to find out these film’s characteristics which had won the award, the reasons of winning the awards, the three biggest European International Film Festival’s styles and the effects of Chinese art film’s oversea communication then sum up the experiences of Chinese art film’s spreading oversea.
