"Five Thousand Dictionary" and "Chinese Characters Easy Confused" are two Chinese textbooks edited by American missionary Courtenay H.Fenn.The former is a dictionary of common words for beginners in Chinese and the latter It is a more rare textbook that specializes in explaining the easy mixing of Chinese characters.Both textbooks have extremely high academic value,but unfortunately,the academic circles have not conducted in-depth research and analysis on Courtenay H.Fenn and his works.Therefore,this article selects "Five Thousand Dictionary" and "Chinese Characters Easy Confused" as research materials.Based on a systematic analysis,this article summarizes Courtenay H.Fenn's Chinese character teaching concept in order to provide some reference for today's Chinese character teaching.Chapter One:Introduction.This article introduces the research purpose,significance and research status of this article.The current research situation includes two aspects,one is the investigation of the missionary's Chinese teaching history,and the other is the investigation of the missionary literature related to the Chinese ontology;The research methods mainly adopt a combination of literature survey method,translation method,quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis.Chapter Two: Introduction to "Five Thousand Dictionary" and "Chinese Characters Easy Confused ".This chapter introduces Courtenay H.Fenn's life and the background of the book,and introduces and analyzes the "Five Thousand Dictionary" and "Chinese Characters Easy Confused" from two aspects: the arrangement and main content.Chapter Three: Evaluation of "Five Thousand Dictionary" and "Chinese Characters Easy Confused".This chapter mainly includes the advantages and disadvantages of the "Five Thousand Dictionary" and "Chinese Characters Easy Confused".The Chinese characters teaching concepts reflected in the "Five Thousand Dictionary" and "Chinese Characters Easily Confused" and the enlightenment of these Chinese character teaching concepts to the teaching of Chinese characters These three aspects.Through a systematic analysis of these two Chinese character works,the author summarizes CourtenayH.Fenn's main views on Chinese character teaching,which are: quantitatively grading Chinese characters teaching,focusing on component teaching and structural analysis,focusing on the combination of form,sound,and meaning,and comparing the form and shape Chinese Character Teaching.In short,this article uses "Five Thousand Dictionary" and "Chinese Characters Easy Confused" as research materials.Based on a systematic analysis,this article summarizes Courtenay H.Fenn's concept of Chinese character teaching and provides some references for teaching Chinese characters to foreigners today.
