A Report On Simultaneous Interpretation Of Academic Exchange In Central People's Hospital Of Yichang City

With the increasing investment in the health care sector,China will further improve medical technology and pharmaceutical research.On June 29 th,2018,sponsored by the Central People's Hospital of Yichang City and funded by the “World Famous Scientists Lecture Program”,Nobel Prize laureate Professor George Smoot came to Yichang for academic exchange.The author was the simultaneous interpreter for this lecture.In 2017,Professor George Smoot established the first Nobel Prize workstation in Hubei province.The academic exchange activity was hosted by Yang Jian,the vice president of the hospital.Zhang Qiong,director of the Health and Family Planning Committee of Yichang City and Xi Jing,Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Division of the Three Gorges University delivered welcome speech respectively.Professor George Smoot is committed to integrating high-end physics technology into health and medical device products.This time,he gave the speech to hundreds of medical staff and medical school students under the theme of medical artificial intelligence.This report is based on the English to Chinese simultaneous interpretation of speech made by Professor George Smoot.The speaker's speaking speed is relatively fast,the lecture coverage is wide and the fields involved are highly professional.With these features,this speech has certain value for academic research.As a result,the author converted the recording into transcript to analyze by combining theory with practice.In the first section,the author describes the interpreting task and the interpretation process.Various problems encountered in simultaneous interpretation are analyzed with the help of the Gile's Effort Model theory.Then,the author gives the corresponding interpretation strategy for these problems using the theory mentioned before.Finally,the author puts forward several unsolved problems and discusses possible methods to improve the level of interpreting in the future.
