A Simulated Interpretation Report On The Fourth International Friendship-city Cooperation And Development And Vocational Educational Forum-under The Guidance Of Daniel Gile’s Effort Model

This report is a practice report on the simulated simultaneous interpretation of the Fourth International Friendship-City Cooperation and Development Seminar and Vocational Education Forum.This forum,focusing on vocational education between Yunnan and friendship cities,jointly discussed development and future in this field.Guided by Gile’s Effort Model,the paper will explore the application of interpreting skills and the allocation of energy in simultaneous interpretation.According to specific cases,tactics like linear interpretation,generalization,paraphrasing,literal interpretation and anticipation will be discussed.Burden for distributing efforts will be eased by using these tactics.Through this report,the author hopes that these summarized interpretation strategies can provide help for the future interpretation practice.The report consists of five parts.The first part mainly describes the background and characteristics of the mission.The second part talks about the process of interpretation,including preparation,implementation and post-interpretation evaluation.The third part mainly introduces the Effort Model put forward by Daniel Gile.The fourth part elaborates the interpreting skills and the problems in interpretation under the guidance of the Effort Model.The fifth part is the summary and reflection of the simulated simultaneous interpretation.
