| This paper is a project report on English-Chinese simulated simultaneous interpreting of Commonwealth Business Forum 2018.The Business Forum,the theme of which is Global Economic Outlook,Trade Growth and the Commonwealth,is an integral part of the CHOGM and a unique platform for international dialogues,bringing together business and government leaders from the Commonwealth countries.It aims to develop cooperation between the Commonwealth and global industrial and commercial leaders and share the opportunities of global growth with each other.In the summit,there was a discussion of the challenges and development of international trade and investment the Commonwealth is faced with after Brexit,as well as the comments on hot issues.The interpreter has interpreted this summit from English to Chinese by simultaneous interpreting under the guidance of Gile’s efforts model.From this interpreting practice,we could learn the Commonwealth’s opinions on international trade and the potential in free trade,which could help Chinese traders seize the opportunities of international trade.This paper is divided into six chapters,task description,pre-interpreting preparation,guiding theory and interpreting principle,major challenges and coping tactic,quality evaluation and conclusion.Chapter One includes the introduction to the the Commonwealth Business Forum,background of the speakers and the significance of this task.Chapter Two consists of speaking style of the speakers and glossary-making.In Chapter Three,the interpreter has introduced the theory of efforts model and principle of simultaneous interpreting.In Chapter Four,the interpreter has elaborated typical cases in interpreting from three aspects and tried to put forward coping tactics.The Chapter Five concludes experience and gains obtained from this practice and points out the problems and weakness in it The interpreter hopes to guide her next task of a similar theme and throw lights on other interpreters through this project report. |
