A Report On Interpreting Practice Of Yuanbo International Forum Of Education

With the implementation of China’s reform and opening-up policy, conference interpreting has been the bridges and bonds of our country’s international communication and contacts. Obviously, we can notice the importance of conference interpreting. Therefore, it has increased the demands to the conference interpreter in an invisible way. For the response to internationalized education, Yuanbo group held an international forum in Harbin New Paris Hotel on June 10 th 2015, they invited education experts from China, Canada and America to share their advanced experience to the teaching staff in Heilongjiang Province. I am very honored to be one of the interpreters of this forum. This report focuses on the problems in this interpreting task. Therefore, I can learn something for my future work and also help others who are interested in conference interpreting.This report consists of four parts. The first part describes the task from three aspects: the client, details and features of this task. The second part narrates the process of this task, it includes the prepare work: collected the background information of this forum, topic-related texts and prepared for the predictable contingencies. Then it describes the process of this task and the evaluation from the client and myself. As the main part of this report, the third part analyses the problems in this task from four angles: information’s reorganization and anticipation, interpreter’s anxious mind and Gile’s Effort Model. The last part is the conclusion about this task, it includes the features of conference interpreting, the qualities that a interpreter should have and my inspiration and expectation about my future.
