China and Africa enjoy ever-growing interaction at all levels, where interpreters play an indispensable role. However, interpreters often encounter comprehension barriers in Sino-African scenarios. This practice report hopes to find out and provide solutions to comprehension barriers in the interpretation for Sino-Africa business meetings based on the author’s experience in the China-Rwanda Project Meeting.Based on the author’s interpretation practice and Gile’s Interpretation Comprehension Equation(GICE),this practice report mainly does case analysis on obstacles that the interpreter encountered in the project meeting between Rwanda Commerce Department and Chinese enterprises. This practice report is expected to make the following contributions.First,by analyzing the comprehension barriers in interpreting under GICE,this report hopes to fill the research gap into the subject of comprehension barriers in Sino-African business meetings.Second, all of the obstacles showed in the 4th chapter are closely related to interpretation for China-Rwanda project meeting based on real cases, thus for future undertakers of similar tasks,it can serve as a very good reference. This report hopes that it can help interpreters engaged in China-Rwanda,or China-Africa exchanges better prepare for business talks on similar topics.
