| With the rapid development of the world, exchanges of countries are increasingly frequent, which interpreters are playing more and more important roles.Interpreters should comprehend and digest source language and then convey the information in target language with correct comprehension. In this process,it can be seen that comprehension is of great importance.Comprehension in interpreting involves many factors. From the perspective of Daniel Gile’s Interpretation Comprehension Equation, this thesis focuses on the consecutive interpreting practice in one foreign aid seminar during my internship. The analysis will be made according to the three components of the equation: knowledge of the language,extra-linguistic knowledge and analysis.Interpreters use the acquired knowledge of the language to recognize and comprehend source language preliminarily, and then employ extra-linguistic knowledge to further confirm the inner connection in source language to ensure a more accurate comprehension. In this process, interpreters should take advantage of some analytical methods to realize better comprehension. The mutual effect among these three components can lead to achieving the correct comprehension of interpretation. The report makes an analysis of comprehension barriers with selected typical examples in this consecutive practice, such as vocabulary and accent in knowledge of the language, subject knowledge and situational knowledge in extra-linguistic knowledge and cognition pressure and short-term memory limitation of analysis. Then, the corresponding strategies are put forward to facilitate the correct comprehension in interpreting practice,so as to reduce the comprehension barriers and improve the interpreting practice level. The report makes clear the major influential factors of comprehension in interpreting, puts forward feasible strategies or suggestions to promote comprehension and expands the application of Gile’s Interpretation Comprehension Equation in interpreting practice. |
