The material of this report is composed of two parts: on-spot and simulation consecutive interpretations based on the three lectures and speeches of the “Image﹒Art ﹒ New Media Academic Forum” held by School of Communication and Animation,Qingdao University of Science and Technology. The field interpretation, which was finished in Dec.2017,covers such topics as “Big Data” and “Data Cube”,etc. The simulation interpretation was conducted in Nov.2018 to ensure the integrity of the material. The material of this part touches upon the fields of “non-destructive analysis of artistic works” and “animation creation”.The contents in the two different parts of the practice overlap with each other to a large extent, and the practice itself is marked by its high intensity of preparation, complexity of the source language, concentration of professional knowledge, great lengths of segments, and frequent unexpected circumstances. This practice report comprises four major parts: task introduction, description of interpreting process, case analysis, and summary and suggestions.Taking the theory of Gile’s “cognitive load model” as the guiding principle, the report seeks to break down the flow of information involved in the interpreting practice into six attention-occupying factors, and analyze, under the cognitive load theoretical framework which is supplemented with “schema theory” adopted by the interpreter during the preparatory phases, the problems arisen due to the respective insufficiency of attention allocated for each of the six factors.Through the analysis of concrete examples, the thesis attempts to raise specific suggestions on the improvement of interpreting skills in the hope of guiding the future progress of the author and providing insights for other interpreting learners as well.
