This English-Chinese consecutive interpreting report describes the task conducted by the author on the International Academic Annual Forum of Asia Architecture and Urbanism Alliance in 2018.The author was in charge of interpreting the speech titled What Design Can Do.The report reviews,analyzes the task by drawing on the Interpretive Theory,and discusses the interpreting difficulties as well as their corresponding coping tactics.In describing the interpreting task,the report puts the emphasis on pre-interpreting preparation and introduces the interpreter’s preparation work.In the chapter of case analysis,the interpreter analyzed some typical interpreting examples in the task under the guidance of the Interpretive Theory,hoping to find out corresponding solutions.Through the discussion and the case analysis,it is found that pre-interpreting preparation can have a great impact on the interpreting quality.Furthermore,by the author’s deep self-reflection and the Interpretive Theory-based case analysis,it is recommended that interpreters should focus more on the meaning of the source language rather than its language form. |
