A Study Of Yu Wujin's Broad Theory Of Historical Materialism

Since the emergence of historical materialism,with the continuous evolution of the historical process and the change of understanding position,people have formed different interpretations of this theory.In mainland academia,people have two main understandings of historical materialism.one is the theory of generalization,that is,historical materialism is only the result of extending dialectical materialism to the field of social history;the other is the theory of core or foundation,that is,in the course of different historical evolution,historical materialism is classified as the core or foundation of Marx's whole philosophy.Yu Wujin confirmed that both views narrowed the true connotation of Marx's historical materialism by studying the development of Marx's philosophy.These two views are collectively called "narrow historical materialism" theory by Yu Wujin.On the basis of discriminating "narrow historical materialism",Yu Wujin put forward the theory of "broad historical materialism",and concluded that all Marxist philosophy is historical materialism.The article is divided into five parts.The first part discusses the process of Yu Wujin's proposition of "broad historical materialism".Yu Wujin started from the domestic academic circles to explore the theory of historical materialism,analyzed the development process of the history of Marxist philosophy,and found out the theoretical sources of two different opinions and the dilemma they are facing at present.Furthermore,it puts forward the theoretical achievement of "broad historical materialism" to solve the theoretical problem of "narrow historical materialism".The second part analyses Yu Wujin's relational theory of "broad historical materialism".Yu Wujin focuses on the relationship theory of Marx's historical materialism from three aspects: the relationship between historical facts and theoretical perspectives,the relationship between objective laws and subjective will,and the relationship between historical significance and contemporary significance.Through different objects of practice,theoretical perspectives and historical events,the true historical truth can be restored.It enables researchers to consciously or unconsciously reflect on their theoretical presupposition in order to minimize the misunderstanding of finding the truth and reach the other side of the historical truth.The third part elaborates Yu Wujin's understanding theory of "broad historical materialism".Yu Wujin believes that the narrative system of the theory of "narrow historical materialism" can no longer adapt to the changes of the current era.Both the three theoretical presuppositions of "narrow historical materialism" and the narrative system itself face challenges.For this reason,Yu Wujin,based on Hermeneutics and focusing on ideology,has found a way to construct a theory suitable for the development of contemporary people through a new interpretation of the nature,structure and basic characteristics of ideology,that is,the comprehension theory of "broad historical materialism".Through the concrete achievements of the rapid development of science and technology,people are guided to pay attention to the current real life.From the perspective of contemporary people,it establishes the narrative mode of historical materialism that contemporary people need.The fourth part reveals Yu Wujin's innovation on the methodology of "broad historical materialism".Yu Wujin put forward "problem domain" method and "difference analysis method".The rationality of the premise setting of the "problem domain" method is the key to solve all the current problems.The "difference analysis" method is used to distinguish the specific characteristics of history and reality,which is the best choice for us to solve the real life problems.The fifth part summarizes Yu Wujin's theoretical contribution to historical materialism and its contemporary value.Yu Wujin constructed and understood Marxist philosophy from different theoretical perspectives,which promoted the new development of historical materialism.It not only enriches the research content of historical materialism,innovates the way of understanding historical materialism,but also puts forward new methods of historical materialism and opens up a new realm of practice of historical materialism.Although Yu Wujin's theory of "broad historical materialism" has been debated a lot,there is no doubt that he played a benchmark role in the research of historical materialism.
