| The “Chinese Dictionary” is an independent compilation,the largest and the most professional of the Chinese dictionary in our country,which is considered the “history of Chinese Vocabulary”.The corpus collects includes ancient and modern documents in various fields.It is the largest Chinese dictionary with the largest collection of Chinese words and the richest corpus in the world.The “Chinese Dictionary” has played an inestimable role in the study and research of readers with medium cultural level,and has played a landmark role in the compilation and development of Chinese dictionaries.The main body of the “Chinese Dictionary” is 12 volumes,with 22,700 worlds and 375,000 compound words,totaling more than 50 million words,it involves all aspects of ancient and modern society,and the richness of corpus is unique among many dictionaries.The reason why the “Chinese Dictionary” has been paid attention to and respected in process of Chinese dictionary undertaking and cultural development is not only because unmatched and the corpus is extremely rich,but also the publication and distribution are the needs of the times and have epoch-making significance for the cultural inheritance and development for our country.Lexicography “seems ordinary but peculiar,easy but hard.”Since 1975,more than 1000 experts and scholars from Shandong,Jiangsu,Anhui,Fujian and Shanghai have participated in the compilation.In the age of incomplete information development and poor writing conditions,they made about 10 million cards.These cards are copied directly from the book,in an attempt to obtain first-hand information.The “Chinese Dictionary” was compiled in 1975,and published in November 1993,it took 18 years.It is regarded as the archives of ancient and modern vocabulary and the general history of Chinese by the academic world,which reflects its compilation principle.A motto from the “Little Larus illustrated Dictionary”says that if a dictionary without examples,it seems a pile of bones.Definitions and many meanings are the most critical and valuable parts of a dictionary,and abundant documentary evidence is the most powerful support to explain the meaning of a word.The “Shuo wen jie zi” pioneered the use of example sentences,then the “Yu pian” comes into use example sentences,but they are unintentional.The“KangXi Dictionary” greatly increased the number of example sentences,covering classic historical.With all of the example sentences which selected by the “Chinese Dictionary” are used for readers that reflect the source,prompt usage,auxiliary interpretation and provide knowledge about the word.Although the pursuit of perfection as far as possible,but because of the special times and the restrictions of objective conditions,there are also have some deficiencies.Evidence lags behind the documentary,wrong title of the article,the incomplete meaning and other issues need to be rechecked and corrected.The “Chinese Dictionary” is highly praised for its rich collection of words,complete meanings,clear source and precise definition.Since the first volume was published in 1986,it has aroused strong repercussions in the society.We are stepping on the shoulders of giants to revise and supplement it again,make more accurate,perfect orders,supplements for documentary evidence,interpretation and other issues,so that it can keep improving when reprinting and taking another step towards to perfection.The author makes full use of the existing resources,according to her own ability to the “Chinese Dictionary” system involved in the content analysis and research,studies some items under“Mi”.Put forward her own suggestions on the terms that need to be corrected and supplemented,carry out textual research on the terms in line with the principle of original text and available evidence,classify and summarize all questions,strive for accuracy,so as to provide readers with reference,and hope to be helpful for the remediation of “Chinese Dictionary”.Because herself ability is limited,inadequacy asks everybody to criticize correct. |
