On C-E Slogan Translation From Eco-Translatology Perspective

CAEXPO is now an important platform for implementing “the Belt and Road”development initiative,it has been attracting more and more attention from scholars.Meanwhile,as an important propaganda of the conference,CAEXPO's slogan and its English translation are closely relate to the image of the country,they certainly deserve far-reaching research.This thesis initially analysis the characteristics and functions of the slogans,and takes CAEXPO's slogans as case study,tries to discuss its translation form Eco-Translatology perspective.This thesis firstly makes a detailed discussion onto the definition and content of textual ecology,to establish a unanimous analytical basis,then applies them onto analyzing the textual ecology of CAEXPO slogan's source text.Based on the linguistic,cultural and communicative textual ecology of CAEXPO slogan,this thesis makes a detailed analysis onto the transtation process by “three-dimensional transformation” method,and further makes use of “degree of multi-dimensional transformation” criteria to conduct a evaluation on its translation quality.Though analysis,this thesis concludes that Eco-Translatology has a strong explanatory power on slogan translation and it is currently the better guiding theory for slogan translation.In addition,this thesis holds that analysis on the textual ecology of the source text is prerequisite for slogan translation research from Eco-translatology perspective.Text analysis is helpful in analyzing the textual ecology,and plays an auxiliary role in evaluating translation quality based on the “degree of multi-dimensional transformation”.To sum up,this thesis takes CAEXPO's slogan as a case study,focuses on “three-dimensional transformation” and “degree of multi-dimensional transformation”,analysis the textual ecology,translation process and translation quality of CAEXPO's slogan.It is hoped that this thesis can benefit the future slogan studies.
