| This thesis is a report of the Chinese-English translation of Li Bai's legends described in Zou Jin Li Bai Gu Li(Closer to Li Bai and His Birthplace)(????????),a book written by Professor Jiang Zhi and published by Ba Shu Shu She in Sichuan(??????)in 2016.This book mainly has three topics:legends of Li Bai circulating around Jiangyou,beautiful natural landscape in Jiangyou,and poems written by Li Bai in Sichuan or written in commemoration of Li Bai,all of which brings the readers closer to Li Bai and Jiangyou City,Sichuan Province,where Li Bai was born and had lived for 24 years.And this report is going to give a summary and an introspection of the Chi nese-English translation practice of 18 legends of Li Bai.Studies on Li Bai have been mainly focusing on his poems,but legends of Li Bai are rarely available in foreign languages.Such a situation limits the western readers to have a deeper understanding of Li Bai and Chinese culture.In order to introduce Li Bai to more foreign readers and encourage more people to join in the preservation and translation of legends of Li Bai,18 legends in the aforementioned book have been translated by the author of this thesis under the guidance of the Harmonious Integration Translation theory.This translation theory was proposed by Zheng Hailing and developed by Qian Jifang,Wu Zhijie and some other scholars.From the perspective of the theory the author has finished the translation of 18 legends of Li Bai,hoping to promote the international cultura l exchange,to protect this intangible cultural heritage of Li Bai and to enrich the relevant researches on Li Bai to some extent.This thesis has summarized the author's translation practice with a description of the translation task and translation process,and an analysis with chosen translation cases of how to achieve harmonious translation texts at cultural level,linguistic level and artistic level by using such translation methods as literal translation,transliteration,etc. |
