This is a translation report based on the Chapter Four and Five of the Celtic Myths: A Guide to the Ancient Gods and Legends.The book is a guide,consisting of different myths.Starting with a discussion of how myths are transmitted and by whom,the author continues with an account of Irish and Welsh myths,their key actors and motifs,and themes such as heroes,animals,women,environment,and the Otherworld.The book concludes with a look at the influence of monastic chroniclers on the tales,which they preserved and adapted.The translator completed the report with the original text from the chapter four and five of the book.The translation is constructive to the scholars who studies the British culture and history and those who want to have a radical understanding of British culture.The report is divided into five parts,namely,translation background,theoretical application,difficulties analysis and conclusion.In the course of translation,the translator met some difficulties,especially the long and complicate sentences and the names of gods.Moreover,there is a little information about Celtic myths.The translator,with the guide of Text Typology Theory took different methods of translation such as amplification,omission to finish the report.
