Chinese nation, just like a carriage,is advancing to the forefront of the world with its wonderful journey of "the Belt and Road" Initiative. The world once again cast their attention to Chinese civilization with a history of thousands of years without break, aiming at exploring its cultural tensions. The thesis focuses its study on translation of a military canon book The Art of War by Sunzi(also known as Sun Tzu's Art of War—one of the classics of traditional Chinese culture),on which a comparative study is launched both diachronically and synchronically on its three most representative English versions under the guidance of Harmonious Integration Translation Theory, for the purpose of achieving a more acceptable translation with a good maintenance of the original style and essence. The main contents of this paper include the following:(1)in the first chapter, the main clues of inter-lingual and intra-lingual translation of The Art of War by Sunzi will be clarified with the background of "the Belt and Road" Initiative and cultural exchanges worldwide;(2)the second chapter is an introduction to Harmonious Integration Translation Theory including its theoretical frame, development status, translation standard and superiority based on the five cultural principles of Hannonizing Heterogenes to explore its applicability and superiority for Chinese classics translation;(3)the third chapter endeavors to establish a diachronic and synchronic research system under Harmonious Integration Translation Theory in order to analyze the harmonious relationships among translation subjects;through a sufficient contrastive analysis on the translation versions by Lionel Giles,Samuel B.Griffith and Lin Wusun, the harmonious relationship between the subjects and objects during translation is presented. It is found that the three English versions have their own distinctive features in terms of scholarly, military and cultural value respectively.Harmonious Integration Translation Theory can be adopted to illustrate and also guide the translation of The Art of War by Sunzi and other Chinese cultural classics on the one hand, and can enrich Chinese translation theories to direct translation practice on the other, for it can integrate the strengths of different languages, cultures, and aesthetics to achieve harmony with diversity by defusing the conflicts and melting the alien cultural elements in translation without the limit of time and space, which also helps to promote Chinese culture "going-out" and the construction of China's soft power&harmony power, being of great theoretical significance and practice value.
