A Study Of Letter Vocabulary In The Northern Dynasty

The long-term split and confrontation between the Northern and Southern Dynasties in Chinese history not only differed greatly in political,economic,social and cultural aspects,but also in language.The study of letters in the Northern Dynasty is an important medium for us to understand the life of the Northern Dynasty,which is rich in content and elegant in language and has great research value.This paper focuses on the study and discussion of the vocabulary in the letters of the Northern Dynasty.On the basis of collecting letters from the Northern Dynasty,the vocabulary in letters is studied comprehensively.In the study,the sources of vocabulary in letters are explored by using dictionaries such as the Great Chinese Dictionary and the Great Dictionary of Buddhism,combining with the basic ancient books in China.Some ancient and Middle-ancient words are textually interpreted,and the relationship between inheritance and development of the words in letters at that time is found.At the same time,good use of allusions is a major feature of letters in the Northern Dynasty,which includes not only allusions but also allusions in sentences.In addition,the author also made a preliminary discussion on the Buddhist words and modest words in the letters,supplemented and analyzed the missing entries and late documentary evidence in the Great Chinese Dictionary.
