The Cognitive Academic Language Learning Approach(CALLA)is a kind of teaching mode based on cognitive learning theory put forward by O’Malley and Chamot in the 1990 s.In the field of second language acquisition,it is relatively new.According to the characteristics of CALLA and its core, this paper tries to design the instructional design, and analyze it.This study is divided into five parts. The first part is the introduction, which mainly describes the origin of the topic, the purpose and significance of the research, the research methods and research status. It mainly summarizes the previous studies. The second part is an overview of CALLA.This part mainly introduces the establishment and development of CALLA,and its theoretical basis and composition in detail. The third part part is about some problems that need to be noticed when designing the instructional design about CALLA.It mainly deals with the general ideas of instructional design and the requirements of CALLA.The forth part is the detailed application of CALLA model in TCFL classroom.Taking Donggan students’ Chinese characters of intermediate comprehensive course as an example, for carrying the teaching design and the complete course teaching process out. After the class is over, the classroom evaluation should be done. The fifth part is the conclusion. It mainly summarizes some problems about CALLA,after the practice and notice teaching. It includes enlightenment and innovation,as well as reflection and shortcomings. Finally, according to my own practical research results, for future CALLA teaching, some suggestions are provided.
