In recent years,people all over the world set off a rush for “Chinese wave” in accordance with the trend that China comprehensive national power gains strength and economic globalization gets highly developed.Embedded in such favorable circumstance,learning the Chinese language has been heated up.Relevantly,Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language is underway like a raging fire.Accordingly,the number of foreign students who learn Chinese is increasing dramatically year by year,and in particular,Korean students take the largest proportion and become an indispensable part which should not be neglected.With basic knowledge of Chinese language and their rising Chinese ability,students are eager for speaking fluent and simon-pure Chinese.By definition,idiom is an oral expression with great popularity in people's daily life.Chinese people use idioms in communication as a common language phenomenon.However,Chinese idioms stand as a big obstacle for Korean students when they try to learn and understand Chinese,which is mainly caused by the diverse social,cultural and historical background between Korea and China.Considering the frequent use of idioms in Chinese Level Test(HSK),idiom-related Education has shown its increasing significance in intermediate and advanced level Chinese language education.In China,study on idioms is a relatively new research subject.The research on idioms for Chinese as a foreign language education is seldom touched and receives much limitation.Therefore,it is imperative to conduct further research on idioms.Based on the literature review regarding the definition,structure and characteristics of idioms,this paper will take Korean students as the target research group and make further investigation on their misapplication of Chinese idioms in real context.This research undergoes through the questionnaire survey targeted to Korean students in order to guarantee the authenticity and reliability.According to the survey outcomes,this paper summarizes Korean students' misapplication into four categories: writing errors,semantic errors,grammatical errors and pragmatic errors.The causes leading to misapplication are drawn as follows: students being negatively influenced by their native language;students being disturbed by the limited knowledge of the target language;students being negatively influenced by the native or foreign culture factors;and students being distracted by other factors.Therefore,this paper proposes three educational strategies to guide Korean students learning Chinese idioms,which are cultural education,comparative education and case study education.Finally,this paper also assures the high status and significance of idioms education in teaching Chinese to Korean students.
