Language is the carrier of culture.Learning a language is inseparable from the study and understanding of the corresponding culture,as well as foreign students who study Chinese.Chinese culture is profound. As an Ukrainian,I often face cross-cultural obstacles while studying Chinese in my country and while studying in China.Like other Ukrainian students learning Chinese, one of the most difficult points I felt during the process of learning Chinese vocabulary was the acquisition of Chinese idioms and the Chinese culture that they carry.Often when facing familiar idioms composed of Chinese characters, they cannot understand the cultural connotation, which will cause errors in the understanding and the use of idioms.Chinese idioms are mostly in the form of four-character lattices, with a large number.Chinese zodiac culture also has a long history, reflected in a large number of animal cultural idioms in idioms.Among them, there are many idioms related only to dogs. These idioms carry China’s unique dog culture. The Chinese culture in Asia and the Ukrainian Slavic culture in Europe are two distinct cultural systems. It is also reflected. For example, these animal cultural words related to dogs are mostly neutral or ambiguous in Ukraine. Many of them are derogatory in Chinese, especially a large number of "dog"-related idioms, which are often in favor of Ukraine.Students ’errors in understanding and use. Therefore, the author tries to use idioms related to " dogs " as an entry point, through investigation and research,to analyze the problems and reasons behind Ukrainian Chinese learners during their studies. It has implications for the teaching of Chinese teachers in both countries and the learning of Ukrainian Chinese learners. The main content of the thesis is roughly divided into five chapters. The first part is the introduction. This chapter mainly introduces the research background, research purpose and significance, research review and research methods of this article. The second part is a detailed description of the investigation of Ukrainian students’ mistakes in learning "dogs".Through a questionnaire survey, the author learned the Ukrainian students’ grasp of the meaning, cultural connotation, and derogatory meaning of "dog"-related idioms in the form of familiar words and their ability to translate related idioms.Interviews with Ukrainian Chinese learners and Chinese teachers from both countries summarized the problems of students’ acquisition of "dog"-related idioms and some imperfections in the teaching of dog-related idioms by teachers, and tried to find solutions. The third part mainly introduces the types and causes of errors in the acquisition of "dog"-related idioms among Ukrainian students.By comparing the differences between Chinese and Ukrainian dog cultures,as well as "dog"-related idioms in Chinese and Ukrainian, the reasons for errors in using "dog"-related idioms in Ukrainian Chinese learners are summarized. The fourth part is mainly about some suggestions for Ukrainian students to acquire "dog"-related idioms. At the same time,I try to put forward some suggestions on the teaching and textbook compilation of teachers’ related content.
