A Report On The Translation Of The Self-Driven Child (Chapter 1)

This is a translation project based on Chapter One of the Self-driven Child,written by William Stixrud and Ned Johnson.The main content of the source text is based on the development of psychology,neuroscience and brain science in recent years.It aims to explain the changes in people’s brains when under pressure.And at the end of this chapter,it gives some guidance for parents on how to help them reduce or remove stress.The main contents of this report are divided into five chapters: Chapter One is the translation project description,including the background,significance and structure.Chapter Two gives a detailed analysis to the source text,including its publishing facts,main content and brief introduction of two authors.Chapter Three introduces the theoretical guidance of the report and its application.The report analyzes the text based on Peter Newmark’s communicative translation.Chapter Four introduces the difficulties in the translation and their solutions.Division,combination,amplification and omission to deal with the difficulties.Chapter Five is about the conclusion of the report,including the lessons,implications and unsolved problems in the practice.
