A Translaiton Project Report Of "will The U.S, Go Bankrupt?"

This is a translation project report on the finance review of “Will the U. S.Go Bankrupt?” which was originally published on the48thissue of ChinaEconomic Weekly in2008. In this finance review, the author Niu Wenxin gives asystematic analysis on the U.S. sub-prime crisis by discussing its reasons andresults of U.S sub-prime crisis and advice of how China to cope with the influenceof the crisis. This report firstly analyzes the background, and objectives oftranslating Chinese finance review into English and shows significance oftranslating this text. Then it introduces the author, main contents, structure andlinguistic features of the source text. After analyzing the translation difficulties,which lie in the translation of specialized terminology, Chinese proverbs and longChinese sentences, the report gives some translation methods based on theFunctional Equivalence Theory, including amplification, omission, combination,division, and also some other techniques of translating terminologies and Chineseproverbs.
