This is a translation project report on Behavior and Group Management in Outdoor Adventure Education,of which chapters 8 and 9 are the source text.Under the guidance of John C.Catford's translation shifts theory, the report gives a thorough analysis of the translating process of the source text.As a famous English linguist and translation theorist,Catford put forward “translation shifts” in his book A Linguistic Theory of Translation in 1965.With common linguistic theories, this theory explains and categorizes various kinds of shifts in translation, rendering great significance to the traditional Chinese translation practice. As an information-oriented book,it requires translators to learn about and be familiar with the differences between Chinese and English, and then adopt appropriate translation shifts,so as to make the target text better understood and more readable. This shows how his translation shifts theory can guide translation practice. This report is composed of five chapters: the first chapter gives an introduction to the translation project, including its background and significance, and then it introduces the structure of the translation report;the second one introduces the source text, including its main content and analysis of the selected part;the third one is some information on the foregoing theory;the fourth one discusses the translation difficulties and solutions based on translation shifts theory;and the last one concludes the report.
