Polyphonic characters are one of the key and difficult points for foreign students to learn Chinese.Due to the large number of polysyllabic words and the complex relationship between sound and meaning,there are some problems in the learning process of foreign students.The collation and induction of the polysyllabic characters in the textbook Developing Intermediate Spoken Chinese used by C/D students in Bohai University Language Class will not only help teachers to consult,but also help foreign students to learn.By consulting relevant papers and designing questionnaires with foreign students and teachers,and referring to the common word table and vocabulary table of the International Currlculum for Chinese Language Education,this paper designs the test questions of multi-syllable words based on the polyphonic words in Developing Intermediate Spoken Chinese I and II.The survey found that there are the following problems when foreign students learn polysyllabic words: first,the basic concepts of polysyllabic words are not enough and they are misselected;second,they are misread because of the change of tone and intonation;third,they are misread because of the influence of part of speech;fourth,they are misread because of the influence of common sounds;fifth,they are misread because of the influence of the first pronunciation they have mastered;and sixth,they are misread by rote recitation.In view of these problems,the teachers' suggestions are as follows: clear concept,correct understanding;accurate pronunciation,attention to distinction;remember special,avoid misreading;distinguish part of speech,corresponding pronunciation;distinguish meaning of words and determine pronunciation.In classroom activities,listening exercises focus on listening;tone matching,careful distinction;word-sound matching,deepening understanding;old and new exercises,emphasis on memory;looking for pictures and words,intuitive and clear.As for students,it is suggested that learners accumulate,summarize,practice and use more.
