EC Translation Of Chapter 3 Of The Making Of A Digital World--The Evolution Of Technological Change And How It Shaped Our World And A Critical Commentary

This translation project consists of two parts.The first part is the Chinese translation of the selected source text,which is the third chapter of The Making of a Digital World--The Evolution of Technological Change and How It Shaped Our World.The second part is a critical commentary.The critical commentary is an analytical report on the translation strategies and methods applied in the translation process.The language of this book can be classified as EST(English for Science and Technology).And the functional tenor of EST is informative.The project aims to inform the readers the information of the original text faithfully and offer a new perspective on the globalization process.The two main problems the translator met in the translation are how to faithfully transfer the information of the source text and how to ensure the readability of the target text.The “fidelity rule” and “coherence rule” of the Skopos theory are employed in the translation process.Those two rules do offer a great help in transferring the information of the source text faithfully and making the target text readable and coherent.
