| The idiom is the essence of the language.Chinese idioms are concise,comprehensive,meaningful,and widely-used.For foreign students,idioms are both interesting and difficult.How to carry out the idiom-teaching effectively and increase the idiom level of foreign students greatly is an issue worth attention and thorough discussion.In the current teaching condition,the idiom-teaching has not gained enough attention.Standard applied to the quantity and grade has not formed yet and the arrangements of semantics,grammar and pragmatics are to be satisfied.There has been few researches on the arrangement of idioms in the textbooks so far,which are all short of depth.Therefore,it is necessary to make a targeted study on the arrangement of idioms in one set of textbooks,for a better guidance in Chinese-teaching and a more powerful assistance to foreign students’ ability to Chinese expression and cross-cultural communication.This paper analyses the idioms in the intermediate and advanced textbooks of Road to Success,and finds out there are some problems which affect not only teachers’ use of textbooks,but also learners’learning.It is urgently to be solved.So,this paper is devoted to the study of this issues and proposing direct-aimed amendments.The paper is divided into four chapters.The first chapter introduces significance,object,ideas and the methods of the research,and summarizes the results in the study of idioms from two perspectives:acquisition of the students and the idiom-arrangements in the textbooks.The second chapter analyzes the idiom items about the quantity and grade,the presentation mode,the exercise types and the recurrence rate by the method of statistical and comparative analysis.The purpose of this chapter is to sum up the advantages for the reference of other Chinese language textbooks,and find out disadvantages to be revised,so as to exert the great strength of the Chinese learning textbooks.In the third chapter,the idioms are divided into five categories in structural types according to the relevant dictionaries.Which includes subject-predicate structure,verb-object structure,modifier-core structure,predicate-complement structure and combined structure.The idioms are also divided into five categories in origins,which contains myths and fables,historical stories,verses,slang and foreign culture.The purpose of this chapter is to grasp the characteristics of different kinds of the idioms,so as to adopt appropriate teaching strategies and investigate the advantages and disadvantages of different kinds of idioms in arrangements.The fourth chapter,based on the classification of idioms,discusses how to apply the teaching methods to different kinds of idioms and make examples of teaching design.In this chapter,we further put forward some suggestions on the selection,interpretation,recurrence and exercises,and propose more specific suggestions on the arrangement of idioms in the terms of semantics,grammar and pragmatics. |
