In 1984,A Cheng appeared on the literary stage with the article The King of Chess.For a long time afterwards,the interpretation of A Cheng was almost covered by the Root-seeking Literature.The King of Chess was regarded as an example of Root-seeking Literature,and they were always cannotate meaning mutually.Just as the introduction of Root-seeking in literary history cannot be separated from A Cheng,the study of A Cheng cannot be separated from the series of Three Kings.However,literary sketches written by A Cheng has never attracted enough attention from the critics.On the other hand,the study of the so-called New Literary Sketches always focuses on Sun Li,Wang Zengqi,Gao Xiaosheng,Lin Jinlan and Jia Pingwa.It is a pity that there is no systematic study of A cheng's work.As A cheng said,Literary Sketches probably has the characteristics of poetry,prose,essays and fiction at the same time.It can pass on many of our legacies to future generations.At the same time,it can carry out various experiments in description,such as sentence rhythm,sentence tone,structure,perspective and so on.As an attempt to synthesize classical resources and modernity in the context of Modernity pursuit and Root-seeking in the new era,this genre only aroused heated discussion at that time,while the later research and summary seemed insufficient.This paper makes a diachronic and synchronic analysis of A cheng's writing from a stylistic point of view in order to make up for the deficiency of A cheng's research.At the same time,the analysis of the meaningful form of New Literary Sketches is also based on the thinking of how to integrate literary resources at present.On the basis of historical textual research and close reading of texts,this paper attempts to restore A Cheng's literary sketches creation to the historical context of the1980 s.By using narrative theory,combining with traditional Chinese literary theory,aesthetic and philosophical works,and through synchronic comparison between A Cheng's and other writers' such as Wang Zengqi,He Liwei and Jia Pingwa's contemporary creation,this paper makes a deep analysis of stylistic features and their origins of A Cheng's literary sketches creation.In addition,this paper also makes a diachronic comparative analysis of A Cheng's literary sketches and Chinese ancient literary traditions and other modern literary writers' works,like Fei Ming,Lu Xun from two aspects of narrative characteristics and language style,trying to analyze theinternal development law of literature,the utilization of traditional literary resources and the skills of short story creation.The paper is divided into three parts,mainly in the following aspects:The first part clarifies the concept and origin of the literary sketches,and explains the name of the notebook novel.At the same time,this part also restores the historical scene,combs in detail the historical context,occurrence and development,promotion reasons and theoretical construction of the new notebook novel,and points out the similarity of the new notebook novel,root-seeking literature and vanguard literature.In addition,this part gives a brief overview of A Cheng's theoretical publishing and creative participation in the 1980 s on notebook fiction and root-seeking literature,which lays a macro background for the following part.The second part analyses the narrative characteristics of A Cheng's literary sketches.Two main characteristics are analyzed from narrative structure,angle,style,time and rhythm standpoint: muted narration and two-structured narration.This part also points out that these two narrative characteristics is related to both the aesthetic orientation caused by personal experience and deliberate motivation.In terms of narrative structure,A Cheng's notebook shows the anti-climax feature of background weakening,causality and dramatic factors weakening.Although it seems free and casual,it is essentially a kind of painstaking casual management.In terms of narrative angle and demeanor,Acheng's notebooks use scatter perspective to deal with the material,without restriction of time and space,and depict the narrative in three-dimensional form from various perspectives.At the same time,A Cheng often narrates the secular life and all kinds of life with calm and objective narrative style,such as Wang Dewei's looking on coldl",which has nothing to do with his identity as a marginal person of the times.In addition,A Cheng's limited perspective is an interesting proposition.The narrative from this perspective hides the narrator's subjective spirit,which makes the novel appear calm and objective.From the perspective of narrative time and narrative rhythm,the narrative time of A Cheng's literary sketches is far less than that of the story,and it often uses freehand brushwork to compress the story,and uses several time segments to abbreviate the whole life.On the whole,A Cheng's literary sketches is a bi-structured narrative,which implies a deep poetic structure behind the superficial desalination narrative.Although A Cheng's literary sketches seems to reject metaphorical plain narration,it is actually a meticulous fable,figurative and symbolic writing.The third part analyses the language style of A Cheng's literary sketches from two aspects of inheritance and deconstruction.The language style features of A Cheng's literary sketches are very obvious,that is,simple and thin.On the one hand,it is related to the acquisition of traditional literary description,classical Chinese syntax and rhetoric strategies,on the other hand,it is also related to the trend of the times of resisting the mainstream discourse mode with moderate and colloquial expression.The restraint of A Cheng's notebook novels is first reflected in the literary sketch.His words are very accurate and vivid,without exaggeration or elaboration,which comes from his meticulous observation and precise generalization.In addition,A Cheng integrates the grammatical structure of the traditional vernacular and classical Chinese,which is characterized by many short sentences,no subject,few conjunctions,etc.It makes the language of his novels both vulgar and natural,elegant and implicit,and extremely simple.At the same time,A Cheng's return to language style is also a rhetorical strategy of countermeasure.On the other hand,A Cheng's short sentences constitute the speech form of the text and the goodwill to everyday language,which in itself is a deconstructive force against radical common discourse,which makes A Cheng's literary sketches naturally have the tendency of resistance and modernism.
